Supporting Families & Seniors. Alleviating Hunger. Improving Mental Health.

When you name JFS as a future beneficiary in your estate plans, you ensure that the critical programs you care about now will continue to provide hope and help to future generations.

Legacy gifts are planned gifts made during your lifetime that will have a meaningful impact on JFS while reflecting the values that are most important to you.

There are many ways to establish a legacy gift that can maximize your gift’s impact, allow you to maintain your assets or property until after your death, and provide tax benefits to your estate. JFS can help you identify ways to make a legacy gift that best supports your financial situation and honors your lifetime of giving. We also encourage all legacy donors to consult with a trusted advisor to better understand how these meaningful gifts fit into your charitable estate plans.

Have you already included JFS in your estate plans? If so, please let us know so that we can thank you and recognize your thoughtful commitment.

You’re In My Plans!

Ways to give and leave your legacy include:

You can provide for JFS in your will or trust by naming JFS (Jewish Family Services of St. Louis) as a beneficiary of a specific amount, asset, or percentage of your estate. When received, your estate will receive a tax deduction in the amount of your charitable bequest, and your bequest will be recorded as a gift to our endowment where it will strengthen the organization for future generations. If you are planning to make a bequest for a specific or restricted purpose, please contact us so we can ensure your wishes are met.

Beneficiary Designations:

Beneficiary designations are easy to execute and provide more flexibility than bequests. Simply name JFS as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or commercial annuity. You may change or amend the beneficiary designation at any time. Income and estate taxes are not imposed on retirement assets left to a charity.

Gifts of Real Estate:

Gifts of real estate also offer opportunities to perpetuate your legacy and help JFS plan for the future. By donating all or part of your property to JFS, you may be able to reduce your capital gains tax, receive an income tax deduction, and receive income for life. In some cases, you may even be able to continue to use or live on the property.

Charitable Annuities:

Charitable annuities offer a unique way to support JFS while providing financial benefits for yourself. When you set up a gift such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity, you receive regular payments for the rest of your life or a specified period and then/also leave a meaningful gift for JFS. These gifts provide a charitable income tax deduction and may reduce your capital gains tax and/or estate tax.
